Embedded Software Engineer

Vantage MedTech is searching for an Entry Level Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be responsible for help design, develop, and test embedded software for state-of-the-art medical devices. Vantage MedTech's state-of-the-art medical products improve quality of life for patients every day. Our innovative products are developed by experienced, multidisciplinary teams requiring a high level of hardware and software integration. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with high level of proficiency with the C/C++ programming language, comfortable working with electronic schematics and equipment, and a passion for being part of a team developing medical technologies that improve people's lives.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in full-lifecycle development of embedded system solutions, from ideation, proof-of-concept, and requirements to the design, implementation, and testing of a final production quality medical device.
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to determine firmware specifications for the medical device.
  • Develop and test firmware for embedded system solutions.
  • Work closely with hardware, software, and system engineers to solve cross-functional design challenges.
  • Considers good design principles when developing solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 0-3 years of industry experience in design, development and testing of embedded systems.
  • Experience in embedded C/C++ development.
  • Experience working in a software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with real-time debugging using emulators and electronic test instrumentation (such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.).
  • Knowledge and exposure to basic hardware design and ability to read schematics.
  • Experience with embedded processors like ARM Cortex A/M, or similar.
  • Experience with peripherals such as Flash memory, ADCs, DAC, RTC, WDT, and sensors.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, CAN, USB, or Ethernet.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing embedded systems (i.e. microcontroller based custom products and custom electronics)
  • Familiarity with embedded wireless systems
  • Experience in a regulated environment such as Medical Device or Aerospace is a plus
  • Embedded GUI development (knowledge of Qt for Embedded Linux is a plus)
  • RTOS embedded software development knowledge and experience
